EVENTS
Following collaborative work with The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (UCLCTC) over the past 19 months, we are c-hosting two events entitled “Bridging the Gap: Clinical Trials and Black Health.” These will be held in
- Nottingham, 19th October, and
- Birmingham, 9th November.
We know by experience and research evidence that medications and treatments formulated for the white population are often significantly less effective and, in some cases, detrimental to the black community. Hence, our lack of participation in clinical research cannot be ignored.
For many cancer patients, a clinical trial is lifesaving, however, because we as the black community are not made aware of them, or informed about them, we miss out. This event is more significant than we might realise, maybe not for us the elders, but for our children. Your attendance can make it a success whilst supporting the Rose Thompon Foundation’s efforts to address cancer inequalities.
Event Highlights
- Importance of Clinical Trials in the Black Community: Understanding why participation matters.
- Breakdown of Clinical Trials: Including safety measures and efforts to combat injustice.
- Personal Stories: Hear from Black patients involved in clinical trials and Black healthcare professionals who recruit for these trials.
This educational day aims to inform and empower community leaders and groups to disseminate this crucial information within their communities, encouraging greater participation in clinical research.
Join us in making a difference and bridging the gap in cancer health inequalities!
