Running for hope and change

Follow Tonderayi Mago's journey as he takes on the Nottingham Half Marathon to support the vital work of the Rose Thompson Foundation across our community.

How your support makes a lasting difference

It is well documented that prostate cancer disproportionately affects Black African and Caribbean men, and breast cancer continues to deeply impact Black women. I am running to help change these statistics. The Rose Thompson Foundation works tirelessly in Nottingham and beyond to break down stigma, improve early awareness, and tackle health inequalities so that every patient receives dignified, effective support.

A journey of faith, family, and purpose

My name is Tonderayi Mago. Born in Zimbabwe in 1972, I have called the UK home since 1997. As a man of faith, an active member of Men United in Christ in Nottingham, a proud father of four daughters, and a grandfather to two, my life is rooted in community and family. For the past decade, running the Nottingham Half Marathon has been a personal tradition, but this year it carries a much deeper mission.

Tackling cancer inequalities in our community

By sponsoring my half marathon run, your generous contributions empower the Foundation to deliver culturally appropriate, holistic cancer care and sustain dedicated support networks for patients, survivors, and carers. Your backing also drives community engagement initiatives that foster clinical research participation and ensure better health outcomes for generations to come.
